Linksys, a Cisco subsidiary, offers really good Internet and networking routers starting at under $50 for home or office use.
But companies that are in the business of distributing data within the Internet infrastructure and between Internet service providers across long distances need to spend a tad bit more for their routers.
How much more? How does $90,000 grab you?
That’s the starting price of the CRS-3, the router that Cisco announced with great fanfare on Tuesday. The device, available later this year, can deliver a whopping 322 terabits of data, which is 3 times the speed of the company’s existing CRS-1 router and 12 times faster than what the competition offers, Cisco CEO John Chambers said.
It took a bit of web surfing, but I learned CRS stands for Carrier Routing System. As far as I can tell there isn’t a CRS-2 router.
Cisco made a big deal out of this announcement, claiming in advance that it would “forever change the Internet.”
It was a big enough deal for a KCBS reporter to wake me up at 5:30 a.m. to talk about it and for me to tune into a webcast announcement at 8 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. visit from a CBS5 camera crew to so that TV viewers could be filled in about this incredible new development.

Lindsay Lohan Etrade Video

Lindsay Lohan sued financial company E-Trade over a commercial video that was released during Superbowl where Lindsay was present. The “milkaholic” baby in its commercial who is also named “Lindsay” is modeled after her without her permission. That’s why she wants $100 million for all the trouble that might have caused her due to the Ad.

Lindsay is claiming that the company might have used any name like “Susan,” however they decided to choose her name. Now everyone’s talking about this. And this is causing a lot of trouble to her. Lindsay’s Lawyer claimed that Lohan is entitled to $50 million in exemplary damages, plus another $50 million in compensatory damages. Must Say nice move baby Lindsay.

College of the Ozarks

The College of the Ozarks in Missouri is hosting the NAIA Men’s Division II basketball championships for the 11th consecutive year. The tournament runs from Wednesday March 10th – Tuesday March 16th, with a starting field of 30 teams.

Top ranked Walsh (Ohio) finished with a 28-2 record, and was ranked 1 in division II for the last three weeks of the season. They are early favorites in the tournament, but the field is pretty wide open. Another widely liked team is defending champion and 6th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan.

The host team, College of the Ozarks, is making its 11th straight tournament appearance to go along with its 11th straight year of hosting. It should be a very entertaining tounrament, with the national championship game beinghelp Tuesday March 16th and televised on CBS.

Layla Grace Dies

Layla had a great 15 month checkup. At around 16 months her sleep habits and appetite started to change and she started to become more irritable. Mid March appetite began to decrease. At the time we thought we were dealing with a picky eater. Beginning of May Layla woke up one morning with a swollen eye. We took her to the doctor and she was treated for an ear infection and the doctor said the swelling was just a result of the ear infection. At the same time we noted that her belly was hard and somewhat distended. She had not had a bowel movement for a few days and we were concerned that she was becoming constipated.

The next day we took her to the pediatrician who put her on Mirilax over the weekend and told us to call back Monday. By Monday morning she was not eating at all, still no dirty diaper, her activity level had decreased and was rubbing her belly and lower back and saying owie.Our pediatrician referred us to a GI specialist to see why she was so constipated and wasnt eating. On Thursday May 7th as we sat in GI specialists office expecting to be told that Layla would need some kind of treatment for constipation we instead hear words like Cancer and Leukemia. A series of X-rays and tests were ordered and we were sent home to wait on the results.

That evening about five minutes after we walked in the door we got an urgent call from the GI specialist telling us that the test results were in, that things were not good and that we were to bring Layla into the ER immediately and that a team of doctors would be waiting for us.

Layla has a massive cancerous tumor (Stage 4 Neuroblastoma) in her abdomen. It extends from above her left kidney, around her side, over her belly and wraps around her aorta. In addition, the cancer is in her bone marrow.

Our sweet Layla went from normal happy and healthy to lethargic, in pain, and skin and bones in a matter of a week and a half.

Bingle and Clarke’s relationship ?

Australia’s vice captain is heading back to the crease but his fiancée may be heading out the door.
Michael Clarke was today named in the test squad to play the Black Caps, but at the same time a removal truck’s arrived at the apartment he shares with Lara Bingle.
Clarke peeked out from behind his curtain as speculation builds the curtain is to fall on his high profile relationship.
Nicky Bridges, of Who magazine, says the public are addicted to scandal.
“Look let’s be honest – everyone loves a scandal. Even the word scandal is enough for people to pique their interest,” he says.
“It makes people more interesting all of a sudden. It is very messy which is why people are intrigued by it.”
Clarke’s friends say he is confused and lost.
Yesterday his fiancée gave reporters the finger. Today the only movement at the apartment was removal men packing a truck.
There is still no word on who was moving out, but the word is he’s asked her to go.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting said the team were in full support of Clarke.
“We’ll just give him as much time as he needs and all that we can do is just give him as much support as possible,” he says.
“He knows from all of us in the team that he’s got all the support he needs.”
This afternoon Clarke was named in the squad for the two-match test series in New Zealand.
He’s due to fly out Sunday or Monday. But Cricket Australia conceded there are no guarantees he will make the flight.
Psychologist Janet Hall says one photo has become a snapshot of two lives in turmoil.
“Somebody going through this national, naked exposure will feel that not only their privacy has been invaded, but their identity is been taken away,” she says

Google launches the Google Apps marketplace

Google tonight launched what they are calling the Google Apps Marketplace — a great way to build integrate and sell applications to the same users that are currently using Google Apps.

It will be interesting to see what route developers decide to take as far as monetizing their apps. Is it going to be largely free apps that are ad-supported, or paid apps? I hope developers choose the paid apps model.

It’s extremely easy to integrate any application into Google Apps — they are exposing a ton of API’s, like single sign-on, being able to add a link to the nav-bar at the top, etc. It costs $100 for a developer to sign up to give you access to these tools, and will allow you to sell your application to businesses using Google Apps.

This is an interesting way for developers to make extra money — it’s basically taking the same “app store” concept that you find on may mobile devices, and applying it to web applications. Using the tools Google has provided is very easy to make compatible applications, and more importantly, makes it easy for end users to use those apps.

Yousuf, Younis banned for life

The PCB has acted swiftly on the recommendations of an inquiry committee and banned senior players as well as heavily fined them.

Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved have been banned for a year, while Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal and Kamran Akmal have been put on probation for 6 months and fined between 2-3 million rupees.

The most shocking development, however, was life bans for Pakistan’s most recent Test captains – Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf. The senior pros will not play for Pakistan again, but be eligible for domestic and county cricket, the report said.

The inquiry committee had recommended that Yousuf and Younis should no longer be part of the national team in any format because of their bad influence on the team and that Malik and Rana be banned for 12 months and fined 2 million rupees each.

The board said in a statement that, “Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan, keeping in view their infighting which resulted in bringing down the whole team, their attitude has a trickle-down effect which is a bad influence for the whole team, should not be part of national team in any format.”

The PCB also called Afridi’s ball-biting antics a “shameful act” that “has brought the game and country into disrepute”.

The punishments are set to impact the composition of Pakistan’s World Twenty20 Championship. The team is the defending champion in this format and the 15-man squad for the event is due to be out by the end of this month.

According to sources, the report was discussed by the PCB chairman Ejaz Butt with the national selection committee on Monday as part of the selection process for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.

“Apparently at the meeting, there were mixed reactions to the strong recommendations keeping in mind that upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies where Pakistan defends its title,” the source stated.

The inquiry committee apparently had serious reservations over the attitude and commitment shown by Malik and Rana in Australia where they were accused of not cooperating with the management.

He said the captain, coach and manager on the Australian tour had reported Malik and Rana for misbehaviour and not cooperating with the management a fact confirmed by some other players who appeared before the probe committee.

This is the first time in Pakistan cricket history that the Board has taken such strong disciplinary action against so many players at one time.

The punishments are as follow:

Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan – life bans

Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved – banned for a year and fined Rs. 2 million

Kamran Akmal and Shahid Afridi – on probation for 6 months and fined Rs. 3 million

Andrew Randy Kwasniewski Found dead

Andrew Randy Kwasniewski president of hardrock cafe hotel Las Vegas was found dead at home in Las Vegas. Andrew Kwasniewski was first discovered by his own wife on Tuesday morning, allegedly while the death was suicide.
Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating the Andrew Randy Kwasniewski cause of death suspected suicide. This case is treated in a very sensitive and the possibility that the press conference will be held if more information is known or if the Randy Kwasniewski`s family wants to make a statement to the press.

Willie Davis Found Dead

Willie Davis, a speedy center fielder who collected two World Series rings, three Gold Gloves and was a two-time All-Star during his 14 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has died. He was 69.

“He was beloved by generations of Dodger fans and remains one of the most talented players ever to wear the Dodger uniform. Having spent time with him over the past six years, I know how proud he was to have been a Dodger. He will surely be missed and our sincere thoughts are with his children during this difficult time,” Dodgers owner Frank McCourt said in a statement.

Davis was found dead Tuesday in his Burbank home, police said, adding that they did not believe foul play was involved.

Davis’ teammates included Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Johnny Roseboro, Junior Gilliam and Maury Wills. He won his World Series rings in 1963 and 1965.

“He was the only person I’ve ever seen score on a fly ball from second base when he did it in Vero Beach. Willie running the bases was one of the best. He was exciting. He was a very proud man and a good man. He was a good ballplayer,” Dodgers coach Manny Mota said at spring training in Glendale, Ariz.

The Dodgers lost the 1966 World Series 4-0 to the Baltimore Orioles. In Game 2, in the last game of Koufax’s pitching career, Davis committed a Fall Classic-record three errors in one inning when he lost one fly ball in the sun, dropped the next one, then overthrew third base.

During the 1965 World Series, Davis stole three bases in one inning, including one where he had to crawl into second base after stumbling and falling.

Davis left the Dodgers in 1973 and went on to play for the Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres and California Angels.

He retired after the 1979 season with a career .279 average and 398 stolen bases.
