iPhone 4 Release Date Officially Announced

The iPhone 4 release date has finally been officially announced, along with the new iPhone itself, of course.

What did you hope to see introduced by Steve Jobs today? A few minutes prior to the Apple CEO entering the stage, we for one hoped to witness an innovation day, where Apple’s smartphone team would show off a next-generation iPhone 4 that was truly next-generation material. An iPhone 4 that would deliver an experience that makes you feel like you’re part of a fast-paced trip into the future of smartphones. Here’s Steve Jobs’ response:

Finally, iPhone 4 gets official release date

The official iPhone 4 release date is set to June 24th on AT&T Wireless. When Steve Jobs finally got to the point where he would introduce the iPhone 4, he referred to it as the “biggest leap since the original”, just to emphasize that, no, despite the iPad effort, Apple hasn’t forgotten about the iPhone. Rather on the contrary, according to Steve Jobs, the iPhone 4 brings more innovation to the table than ever before.

Perhaps just as important, Netflix joined Steve Jobs on the stage to announce Netflix for iPhone, an application that enables video on demand via both Wi-Fi and 3G networks. It’s a subtle yet strong statement to the entertainment world: We choose to disagree on some openness choices, but if you’re willing to listen to us and take advantage of what we offer, we’ll open the door to 100 million multimedia hungry iOS users for you.
